I am sitting here writing this, reflecting on the direction my life is going and I am in complete awe. Being a speaker was a dream that I never knew I had until my sophomore year of high school when I became apart of what would become the Ethan Lee Stop Bullying Speak Up Foundation. I never knew the high and absolute bliss that was missing from my life until I did my first junior high show talking to almost 2,000 students. I didn't know what I was missing until I was in a room where I could hear a pin drop other than the sound of my own voice, until I had students come up to me after shows and in the grocery store, telling me what my speech meant to them. I didn't know what I was made to do in life until I started speaking, and now all I want to do is travel all over the world, talking to and inspiring students, even a fraction of how much all of them inspire me each time I get to meet them. I have known this was the dream and the goal since the first time I started speaking but I figured I had a lot of time to go before that dream would ever have a chance of becoming a reality. I had no idea that I had the option of starting now until I met the amazing Josh Drean who is also a motivational speaker and he persuaded me to do something kinda crazy. If you haven't heard of Josh I definitely recommend looking him up and watching his amazing vlog. I had the pleasure of meeting him when my program brought him in to do a presentation for our high school students. He is literally one of the coolest people I have ever met and I decided after that first show he did in my hometown that we had to be best friends (he agreed but I am not sure if he was just being nice or if I scared him into it either way it's a thing now). During the time he was in town I had the opportunity to talk to him about his career as a motivational speaker. I shared my aspirations of one day, 5-10 years from now, being in his shoes and doing presentations all around the country. He looked at me and said, "Why wait? You could be doing that now!" (before I even graduate college....Crazy I know right?). So I took his advice, put together a website, and now here I am, hoping that it will all work out. I am so excited about this step and feel so much peace with my decision. This summer will be all about developing my presentation and working with the Ethan Lee Stop Bullying Speak Up Foundation, getting things ready for the next school year. There are a lot of fun things ahead and I will definitely keep everyone posted. My hope is by this time next year I will have done multiple presentations and touched thousands of lives. Speaking with my program has been absolutely life changing, but doing things solo is a scary new adventure that I am so excited for. Nothing happens exactly the way we plan it, and I had no idea this part of my life would be starting so soon. I am happy with the encouragement and support I have gotten thus far and look forward to making everyone proud in the future. It may not go exactly the way I am hoping, and I am sure there will be bumps in the road, but what is the fun in life if everything always went exactly as planned?
