" The world isn't yours to save. " This was a comment made to me that really stood out and changed my perspective on the world and how I view it. It was meant as a reminder to slow down and give myself a break, (both of which are important and I am constantly needing to work on them) but it got me thinking: if it's not my job to save the world whose is it? If we all took the time to do just a small part of the work, maybe, eventually the world wouldn't need saving. None of us were assigned the job but I think if you aren't helping create the solution you are adding to the problem, either way you are making an impact! I know that we live in a place where kindness isn't always the first go to option, and sometimes people care more about themselves than others, but just because that may be considered the norm by some doesn't mean that it's right. It doesn't take a lot to make someones day, a smile, a small compliment, an unexpected sweet text can make all the difference to someone who is needing it. You can't save the world all by yourself, and no it isn't really your job to do so but why shouldn't you give it a try. If you put forth the effort to do just one small thing everyday, you are starting a chain reaction that can ultimately reach all across the world. And that is just the small stuff! Kindness is contagious and it has the ability to spread and infect others when the process starts. Then lets take it a step further and say you take the time to do something big, buy someone a meal that you know is hungry, donate clothes to a shelter, sit down and talk with someone that you know is struggling. All of those things have an impact whether you see it or not. Regardless if they are big or small acts, kindness has the power to drastically change the path that a person is going on. It has the ability to give hope, strength, and a renewal of faith...and that is all just for you as the person giving, so think of what it will do for the person you are helping!
I think sometimes we forget how much positivity and kindness changes not only the people around you but also yourself. Taking the time to do things that you don't have to do and sharing a little bit more of yourself with the world does more than just benefit the people around you. I have realized that through "trying to save the world" and do things for those around me that I have saved myself. I have learned more about the Breanna I want to be and discovered the love I have not just for people but for myself. And at the end of the day I would much rather be building people up and failing to save the world than tearing people down and adding to the brokenness that I see everywhere. Anyone can destroy things but it takes a special type of person willing to go the extra mile to take that brokenness and create something beautiful... So I ask you, who are you and when will you be ready to start striving to save the world?
I would love to hear about your acts kindness, your thoughts on the blog, or just about whatever is on your mind today! Feel free to comment or shoot me an email.
