So firstly I would like to send out a huge Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there doing anything and everything to provided for their children. It is such a special day for y'all and I am always so happy getting to see all of the posts and shoutouts given to such deserving men. I also know that with all the joy that comes with today, it is also really bittersweet for some people. Those families that have lost that special dad in their life, and those who just don't have a man that actively fills that father role. I know that as wonderful as today is for some it is so disappointing for others... and that is okay!
Today is always a hard day for me personally because I fall into the category of not having a father to celebrate. When I was younger I always felt cheated out of something so special that all the other kids got to have. However, my experience has shown me how special the people in our life are, particularly our mothers and fathers. So for the last several years I decided that it is okay that I don't have a dad to celebrate because I have a wonderful mom! This beautiful, kind, strong woman God gifted me with has played both roles and I think she deserves twice the props because of it. I know that not everyone agrees with this line of thinking and THAT'S OKAY! Not everyone has walked in my shoes or vise versa so being able to understand the place I come from can be difficult. Ultimately, I think that the point of days like today is to celebrate the people that we ultimately take for granted. These days are meant to remind us that the people that love us so dearly and do all the wonderful things that they do deserve all the recognition and love we can give them. We so often fail at showing them this everyday but by giving them one day out of the year that is completely theirs is our way of trying to make up for it. So today I choose to celebrate! I choose to thank all the wonderful fathers, father-figures, moms or dads that play two roles, and anyone else who sees a need for love in someones life and takes the time to give it. To me that is what this day is for and that is what I will continue to do with it. My fathers day post might not look like everyone else's today but I am thankful that I am loved more than I can imagine and I have people in my life that help fill a spot in my heart that is always a little empty. I hope that today, no matter what your situation, you take the time to celebrate the important people in your life, and let them know how much you love them!
So Happy Father's Day from me I hope it is filled with so much love and happiness !
I would love to hear about the special people you are celebrating today, or your thoughts on the post, feel free to comment!
